Endangered Species Conservation is currently being re-shaped as the wildlife sanctuary transitions to a new location with more space, expanded facilities and a stronger focus on sea turtle treatment and rehabilitation. Future volunteers may have the opportunity to support practical wildlife care, coastal conservation and rehabilitation activities near the Gladstone region, while contributing to a small conservation organisation as it grows into its next chapter.

Future volunteers may support a wildlife sanctuary as it relocates and expands into a larger site with more room for conservation, care and rehabilitation work.
The developing program is expected to focus more strongly on sea turtle treatment and rehabilitation, while continuing to support native wildlife care, conservation education and practical sanctuary tasks. Volunteer duties may vary depending on animal needs, site development, permit requirements and the stage of the sanctuary’s move.
Because the project is changing, exact volunteer tasks will be confirmed closer to placement availability.

The sanctuary is taking time to move to a new location, create a larger operating space and develop facilities that better support future conservation work. This means placements are not currently available as standard bookable programs.

This project is expected to be based in the Deepwater / Agnes Water region of Queensland.
Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 are known for their beaches, coastal landscapes, access to the Southern Great Barrier Reef and island day trips. The area is also connected to turtle conservation, with local turtle stranding response and nesting monitoring activity in the wider region.
Nearby natural attractions may include beach walks, coastal lookouts, national parks, reef and island tours, surfing beaches, kayaking, wildlife watching and trips toward the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
Accommodation is not currently included.
Future volunteers will need to arrange their own accommodation in or near Deepwater, Agnes Water or the Town of 1770, depending on confirmed project location and transport requirements.
O2E will provide location guidance once the program is ready to accept placements, but volunteers should be comfortable researching and booking accommodation independently.
Lunch is included on scheduled workdays.
Breakfasts, dinners, snacks and drinks are not included. Volunteers should expect to self-cater or buy meals locally outside of workday lunches.
Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 have cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and local food options, but availability may vary depending on the season and your accommodation location.
This project will be best suited to independent, practical and flexible volunteers.
Because accommodation and meals are not included, volunteers should be comfortable managing their own travel logistics, local accommodation, food and transport. Volunteers should also be prepared for changing project conditions while the sanctuary completes its move and confirms future operations.
Final requirements will be confirmed before placements reopen.
This is a project in transition. Dates, tasks, location details, accommodation guidance and daily routines may change as the sanctuary completes its move and develops the new site.
Volunteers should be flexible, patient and realistic. This will not be a polished, all-inclusive volunteer package. It will suit people who genuinely want to support conservation work and are comfortable with independent travel, simple logistics and evolving project needs.
