Reef & Rainforest Adventure

Cairns, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation & Kuranda, Far North Queensland, Australia

Experience what the tropical North Queensland has to offer by volunteering in the epic Aussie Reef to Rainforest Eco-Combo.

Yes, that’s right. 3 weeks jam packed with everything Tropical North Queensland has to offer! Perfect for people who want to see it all!

Wek 1 – Marine Reef Research & Conservation

Spend a week experiencing the wonders of the world’s largest reef system, the Great Barrier Reef. Here you’ll get the chance to learn all about the different species that live in and around the reef as volunteers work in collaboration with various oceanographic organisations to research the ecosystem, monitor and survey the reef, and help clean up beaches of marine debris.

Work sites are based across two islands that are under serious threat from coral bleaching, pollution, mining, overfishing and climate change among other factors.

Week 2 – Marine Conservation & Rainforest Exploration

In Week 2, volunteers continue with marine conservation efforts while enjoying eco-tours of iconic locations like Cape Tribulation, Daintree Rainforest, and Kuranda Village, offering a balance of hands-on work and exploration of Tropical North Queensland’s natural wonders.

Week 3 – Aussie Outback & Culture

In Week 3, volunteers focus on advanced conservation activities, including reef health assessments and data analysis, while also experiencing cultural immersion through visits to Aboriginal rock art sites and an outer reef snorkel and dive adventure.

You will be devoting your time to the long-term protection of the Tropical Wetlands and The Great Barrier Reef and its inhabitants, by collecting data and research that will further enhance citizen-science activities being undertaken for researchers. Volunteers also participate in the Turtle Population Monitoring Study – swim with wild & free turtles!

Oceans 2 Earth’s conservation activities thrive on the data that volunteers collect to enhance Australian conservation practices, preserve habitat and care for animals in need.

"This was the perfect way to see the tropical Queensland region
around Cairns but know I was giving back to the places I went
rather than just taking from them.
What a jam-packed holiday!  "
