DUKE of Edinburgh Award – Australia

Oceans 2 Earth Volunteers is a registered Activity Provider for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia. O2E offer Award participants the opportunity to achieve various sections of their Award, through volunteering at ethical and inspiring projects around the world. 

About the Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a leading, structured, non-formal education, youth development program, empowering all young Australians aged between 14 to 24 to explore their full potential regardless of their location or circumstance. The Award is a fully inclusive program and has no social, political, or religious affiliations. 

 

How is an Award Achieved?

To earn an Award, each young person must learn a skill, improve their physical well being, volunteer in their community, and experience a team adventure in a new environment. All Participants are supported by a network of adult Award Leaders, Assessors, Supervisors, and mentors.

The key elements of our program are:

The award is open to all between the ages of 14 to 24.  (You must be 17 or older to participate in an O2E Duke of Ed program.)

Three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, each progressively more challenging.

Four Sections: Physical Recreation, Skills, Voluntary Service, Adventurous Journey plus Residential Project (Gold Level only).

Achieving an Award recognises individual goal setting and self-improvement through persistence and achievement.

 

O2E Project Assessors/Supervisors

– O2E Project Assessors/Supervisors play a critical role in implementing and overseeing the arrangements concerning the safety of participants. 

– hold appropriate qualifications from a relevant authority if such qualifications are available and/or required. 

– are highly competent in the activity and/or nature of the journey they are supervising and meet the Child Protection Legislation requirements in each State/Territory, e.g Working with Children Checks 

– agree to the Volunteer Code of Conduct prior to undertaking any supervision and are approved by The Duke of Ed Award Leader, and: 

– comply with the Award Leader/Assessor/Supervisor Roles and Responsibilities as outlined in Section 2 of the Duke of Ed Handbook.

An Oceans 2 Earth Volunteers project is an amazing opportunity to fulfill the requirements of part of your Duke of Ed Award while doing something fun and meaningful.
