Oceans 2 Earth Volunteers Australia: The land of plenty, has plenty of reasons why you should volunteer down under.
Why volunteer in Australia
Australia, famous for the Great Barrier Reef, Steve Irwin, vegemite, lovable Kangaroos and Quokka selfies. But there is a lot more to Australia than meets the world’s eye. Volunteering in Australia provides a unique opportunity to experience the country at its finest.
Oceans 2 Earth Volunteers can serve as a bridge to volunteer in this rugged and sun-drenched land, offering numerous volunteer programs around Australia from endangered species protection and wildlife care, Great Barrier Reef marine research and conservation, sea turtle rehabilitation and habitat conservation.
Australia needs more volunteers and ambassadors
Australia is a unique, tough and resilient country yet still very vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. With hotter and more frequent bush fires, droughts, changes to rainfall patterns and warming oceans, just to name a few of the threats, it is more important now than ever that we have the support from any activists around the globe who have the drive and will to make a meaningful difference to the Australian environment.
Australian’s and people around the world care deeply for the endangered Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The outlook status of the Great Barrier Reef has been downgraded from ’poor’ to ‘very poor’ with conditions unlikely to improve as more heatwaves are expected causing more bleaching events. As Oceans 2 Earth Volunteers you can have a unique opportunity working on the Great Barrier Reef assisting with underwater monitoring and research as part of a wider study with the Marine Park Authority. Gain practical scientific research skills, all while SCUBA diving or snorkelling on the most iconic reef in the world AND contributing to the conservation and protection of the Great Barrier Reef.
Australia’s native wildlife also needs your help, love and affection. Oceans 2 Earth Volunteers are needed to assist with the care of rehabilitated, sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife in the various wildlife refuge facilities. In the 2019/2020 summer bush fire season, more than 1.25 billion animals perished. Animal shelters are under a great strain to accommodate the influx of koalas, wombats, kangaroos, birds and reptiles and need the help of volunteers now more than ever.
